End of Week 12 & Beginning of Week 13

Week 12:

Day 82- Majority of this week I've been dealing with these annoying allergies that turned into a sinus infection. As a result I was too tired to go see the house on hubby's break like we have been doing.  I managed to leave for work about 15 minutes early and saw that they painted the exterior of the house. I swear that made me feel 1000 times better for at least an hour. When I sent hubby this picture he decided to go by that evening and take more pictures. The pictures that he took of the back of the house had a reddish tint, it also looks a lot darker then the picture I have from the design studio.

Day 83 (10.26.13)- On Saturday we came by to see the exterior paint job, and were surprised to see several guys inside working on the floor tile. When I saw the paint up close and in person I was happy to see that it did not have a reddish tone, but it still looks darker than the latte color it is supposed to be.

Looking from living room to the kitchen. I will be so happy when they install the missing cabinets
Week 13:
Day 84- Contractors work on Sundays? Well our tile guys were back adding our grout and tiling the bathroom tubs. The tile guy informed us that their distributor gave him the wrong color of tiles for the curved edges of the tubs- so he is going to have to pick them up tomorrow and finish out the the edges then.
Almond bath tile in Bath 2

Tile with our Desert Khaki grout. It looks so pretty!

Day 85 (10.28.13)- Hubby went to visit the house after work and noticed that all of the curved bath tiles had been installed, the vinyl flooring in both bathrooms, and our wrought iron stair rail.

Finished Almond tile in Master Bath. After we finish moving next month, the first thing on my agenda is to soak in this tub.

Finished Bath 2 tile

Our upgraded vinyl in the linen closet. This is in both of the bathrooms upstairs

Hubby's pride and joy. The only other thing besides this rail that he is excited about is the front door. Initially we thought that the rail would be the round standard rail like at the model home, but the one we have actually has better detail to it.

Day 86- I did go by the house this morning, but there wasn't a change as of 10 o'clock. I'm not sure if hubby has intentions of stopping by on his way home, but I will definitely be by to visit sometime tomorrow.

Decorate this house

Lets talk paint:
At this point we have only figured out paint for the first floor and stairwell. Majority of the spaces will be the 1st color on the tan pallet sample with an accent wall in the living room with that dark brown color. The 2nd gray color is the color our powder room will be.

I found this photo on the internet. This color is called Merino by Behr paint.

Once again this is for our accent wall in the living room in which the TV will be mounted off. This color is called Cocoa Shell.
Hubby is a huge San Antonio Spurs fan, so we decided on this Iron Mountain gray color. I will probably check Etsy for a wall decal and will lighten it up with white and chrome accents.

Bathroom/ Powder Room:
I ordered these hand towels for our powder room, and am so happy with how they turned out.
Living Room:
Hubby fell in love with this couch as soon as we walked through the door. He wasn't too fond of the pillows, but felt like they were doable. I initially liked it, but once I sat on it and further inspected it and saw the pillows I knew I loved it. Nothing else that we saw after this held a match to it.

We haven't purchased this just yet, but we are looking at this in brown.

Dinning Room:
This will be our dinning room/ everyday table. It is counter height as you can see, and has a butterfly piece that folds under to adjust the size.

We chose these chairs in place of the one's that come with the table
 Kitchen:
Our 31 cu ft Kenmore Elite refrigerator that we purchased during the Labor Day sales. Next month this time they will be delivering this beauty to our new home.

Outside:
When we went on the Disney cruise back in August, I saw a Mickey gnome at the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney and knew that I had to have this for our front porch. I was told that I could always order it online, but by time we returned home it was no longer available on the online store. Somehow I found the phone number to the store and learned that they sold a Minnie gnome, called them and the rest is history. They are both 13 inches tall and so freaking cute. Initially the plan was to put it on the front porch, but there is a stop sign across the street from our house and the hubs thinks someone else may like them as much as we do and take them.  This was our first house buy, and one I am most proud of!

More of Week 12

Day 79- All of the painting began on the walls, doors, baseboards, and shelves.

Day 80- During today's visit hubby saw the painters inside, and asked them if they do any side jobs for extra cash on their off days. Much to our surprise they said all the time and said they would do our job fora little less than $700. I was ready to go ahead and just cancel the following estimate, but hubby suggested we still follow through with the final estimate. As we were leaving we ran into our PM, and he informed us that the tile work on our tubs should be happening this Friday,  someone would be coming out to do some preliminary cleaning, and that the missing cabinet was on back order- but should be in soon.

Day 81- We went by to get our final paint estimate and the painters were in there adding glossy paint to all of the "wet" areas and baseboards. Of course hubby mentioned something about the back fence that I didn't see while we were there, so I just had to go back to see it later that evening. When we got there that evening, we immediately noticed that they set up plastic over the exterior to all windows and the back door. To me that means they are getting ready to paint all of the siding. Woohoo!!! The back fence did go up and they added some dirt in the back to level out the land some more.

Week 12

Yesterday (Day 78) morning I drove by the house to see if the cabinets and framing arrived since it was not there as of Sunday evening. As I drove down the street I immediately noticed lots of movement in the garage. Our cabinets, doors, and all  the framing were there! I wanted to go check it out, but I would've definitely gotten knocked over or just been in the way. Hubby decided later that evening that he would go back and take more pictures for us, and had them ready for me when I walked in the door last night. He's the best! He's pretty laid back and doesn't get excited about things in advance, but he did tell me now that he can see the cabinets, it is becoming more real and exciting to him.

This Saturday we had someone come out for an estimate to have our 1st floor painted, and we both almost died when they said $2200. We have another estimate this Thursday, but if they come in just as high as the other people did hubby said he will handle it himself.

Clove kitchen cabinets. We're missing a cabinet to the left of that window, I guess we will wait to see if it appears by the end of this week otherwise I will send an e-mail.

More beautifully dusty cabinets

I am so happy with our Santa Fe doors that we have throughout the house.  This is the coat closet

Our double doors to the master suite

Master bath cabinets

Our in wall medicine cabinet

Bath 2 with the single vanity that we elected for instead of  the knee space

Laundry room cabinets

Despite us closing on the 20th, we've decided that we're not going to move in until the 30th of November. That gives us time to get the house painted and get our furniture and appliances delivered. I currently am scheduled to work on the 30th, but will see if I can do some fa-dangling and trading with someone. We shall see.

Almost Homeowners

Prior to walking into work today, I received a call (followed by an email) from our SR, where he informed me that we are closing date has officially been moved up to Wednesday, November 20th! It took all of me not to scream. That means 1 month from tomorrow I will be closing on the home that we have been building for what seems like forever. Ahhhhhhh. I am so excited, I can barely concentrate as I sit here writing this at work.

Started from the bottom, Now we're here!

This Friday (Day 75), was a productive construction day at the house. Earlier this week there was lots of rain which caused a pause to construction within the community. The masons have been working on the house since Tuesday, and were able to finish up yesterday. The garage door was installed and all of the texture were added to the walls. An email from our SR informed us that were waiting for our cabinets and trim package to arrive what should be any day now. If it doesn't come today I don't think that it will not arrive until about Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

Today, we have a consultation with some painters for us to obtain a quote. Wish us luck!

Just about 2.5 months ago this was our lot!

And now look where we are!

Our garage door installed. We can't close it to get a better picture being that they have a temporary support beam for the bricks.

Our textured walls!

Pictures of home that hubby took last night

Inside of the den looking out at the entryway and stairwell where the rot iron baulister handrail will be.

In the middle if the great room looking towards the wall where the TV will be mounted and coat closet.

Great room looking into the kitchen

Our brick from the front door. I don't know if it is the picture, but I see a lot of red tones. It's supposed to be shades of brown- no red.

Week 11

10/14/13 Day 71
Stopped by the house and saw all of the guys working hard to finish out all of the drywall. One of the guys informed me that's. Different crew would be by to do the mudding on the drywall.  It must have been close to 10:30am and they were all in the garage finishing up.

Day 72
We made an agreement that we would not visit the house until Thursday, since we assumed that it wouldn't change much between now and then. Well 8 hours into my 12 hour workday I had a change of heart. I called up hubby and asked if he could stop by and see if anything has changed on his way home. Being the awesome man that he is- he agreed! An hour later I received an email titled" Time for the Brick". Despite the title, nothing could have prepared me for this:

He didn't go in since the guys were still working, but if you look close enough you can see that the mudding in the garage has been done.

For the past 2 weeks we've received numerous e-mails from our loan officer with different interest rates. After much thought, we decided to lock in our interest rate. Unfortunately it is not as great as rates were when we first started this process, but hey what can you do?

Day 73
Initially, we made an agreement to not go back to visit the house, but yeah I broke down and did it after attempting to get an oil change. It was so rainy and muddy, but I was determined once again to get an up close view of our brick as well as see the inside.  I really love how the brick is coming together, but feel like it's a shade darker then what we initially thought it would be.

I have no clue what the trailer is there for, because they definitely were not at our house.

My in the car photos weren't cutting it, so I got out to get a better view of the brick.

After seeing the brick, I woke up with a little anxiety and felt the need to start scheduling estimates for painters, measurements for blinds, and quotes for movers. We went out to Home Depot and scheduled for them to come out and measure the morning of October 30th.We have 2 estimates scheduled- one this Saturday and the other October 24th. I haven't gotten an estimate for any movers just yet, but trust and believe that is on my to do list for before I go back to work on Friday.

I am going to try to put together a post of our house buys so far, if not this week maybe next week.

Until next time,
